Creating memories since 1975
Originally built in 1975 on a pine forest plot, Casa do Areal was our grandparents’ home for three decades.
It was here that we played as children and created fond memories of our childhood, helping Grandma Idalina hang sausages on the smoke rack, threshing corn in the summer, and Grandpa João taking care of the animals (cow, pig, ducks, chickens, and rabbits).
The area used to be a closed pine forest, and our grandfather, together with our father, decided to build their homes and also create access through the middle of the forest. Today, that path is a cul-de-sac, lined with beautiful houses in a quiet, green residential area, where birds are always in attendance.
During the 2017 wildfires*, the house was partially destroyed, and in 2022, our sense of loss gave us the motivation to rebuild it and make it once again a place of memories.
* Over 440 active wildfires on 15/10/2017 devastated the entire region and part of Galicia in Spain. Portugal was severely impacted, with many losses (human lives and properties).

Casa do Areal features three bedrooms:
- Relax: with a double bed;
- Dream: with a double bed;
- Smile: with 4 single beds (two in a bunk bed and two individual).
The living room is connected to the dining area and kitchen in a large, bright open space, with large windows and balconies that take full advantage of the available sunlight. You can play board games or on a vintage console, enjoy the Wi-Fi, or listen to music on the radio.
The kitchen is equipped to allow guests to prepare their meals, including a mixer for making Grandma Idalina’s special cake recipe.
The house also has 2 bathrooms, one with a shower base and the other with a bathtub.

Enjoy relaxing moments during your stay in the outdoor area of the house.
Outside, the house has a seating area with a terrace covered by a pergola to provide shade on the hotter days, along with Grandpa João’s old oven and a barbecue, allowing the more adventurous to bake some bread or roast a nice fish or juicy picanha (Brazilian steak).
The backyard offers a view of the forest, where trees and greenery will be your companions throughout your stay. The house also has internal parking space.
